Every time we make a rest stop at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center, we are greeted by the majestic sight of herds of Elk grazing in the nearby fields. It's a breathtaking sight that never gets old. We make it a point to arrive early in the morning to catch the Elk in their natural habitat.

The Oconaluftee Visitor Center is a remarkable addition to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It's the first new visitor service facility to be built since the early 1960s. Located just outside the historic Mountain Farm Museum, the visitor center serves as the gateway to the park, offering visitors access to all the natural beauty, outdoor attractions, and amenities that the park has to offer.

I remember when my kids were little, they would excitedly shout out "Santa's reindeer!" every time we spotted the Elk. Those were fun times, and the memories we made at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center will always hold a special place in our hearts.
